Go, Team Novo Nordisk!

Team Novo Nordisk is a global all-diabetes sports team of cyclists, triathletes, and runners, and is led by the world's first all-diabetes professional cycling team. The team is united in its mission to show what may be possible with diabetes.

Inspire, Educate, Empower

Formed in December 2012, Team Novo Nordisk is a partnership between Novo Nordisk, a world leader in diabetes care, and former pro cyclist and diabetes advocate, Phil Southerland. They joined forces based on a shared vision to inspire, educate and empower people around the world affected by diabetes.

The men’s professional cycling team is made up of athletes who live with type 1 diabetes. The cyclists come from several different countries, including the United States. These athletes are ordinary people with diabetes who happen to have a talent and a strong desire to not let their condition stop them from competing at the top level. The team members work hard to manage their diabetes with the help of their diabetes care teams and are always pushing for their personal best. They want to empower others living with diabetes to do the same.

The team races on the International Cycling Union (UCI) Professional Continental tour, competing in major professional cycling races around the world, including the Amgen Tour of California where the team garnered a total of 3 podium appearances in 2014, a historic best for the unique pro-cycling squad. They look forward to repeat performances in the 2015 season.

In addition to participating in athletic competitions, Team Novo Nordisk is very active in the diabetes community. By sharing their stories with others, the athletes hope to inspire people affected by diabetes.
